Learning with Nature – leaves and a,b,c
It’s a cloudy but very hot Sunday of this long, longggg Eid weekend.
Running out of ideas of how to entertain the little one, the weather seemed a little forgiving so i pushed him to play in the garden at 1:00pm.
I let him kick some ball in the garden, but he was more interested in shoo-ing the crows and touching the plants. Ameer picked up a fallen leaf from our huge christmas tree in our garden and kept throwing it at me to scare me!
Anyway, he collected a few and insisted there were letters of the alphabet that he saw! dubaalooo, dubaloo everywhere. I decided to play along and let him pick more and we made a game out of it.
Simple and silly but it was fun for both of us. We went through the entire alphabet twisting and turning the leaves to make the letters till we reached the end. Ameer continued with his now waa no waaa a,b,ccc….
Kept him engaged for a bit and frankly, me for longer as i struggled to make the alphabet shapes stick.
There wasn’t much at home that helped bind the leaves together, double sided tape didn’t work and my stapler didn’t work either. Resorted to old fashioned sticky tape.
I’m sure thread would work better and when he is older he can join in on the fun!
